The Best Time to Visit Tunisia

Jul 10, 2020 | Travel Tips

The best time to visit Tunisia depends on what kind of vacation you are looking for. Located in northern Africa, Tunisia is a popular tourist destination due to its spectacular sites and attractions and its wonderful Mediterranean climate. What that means is that you can travel to Tunisia at any time of the year and enjoy a warmer climate with a host of activities from exploring the Sahara Desert to relaxing on the beach in one of the amazing coastal areas.

A Mediterranean climate means that parts of Tunisia get hot in Summer and when I say hot, I mean REALY HOT (some places can reach easily reach 43C or 110F!) Then again some areas can experience rather chilling winters (Djerba island where our office is located can be in the teens C or in the 50’s F). The best time to visit Tunisia if you want to stay away from the heat is during Spring, from April to June and during Autumn, from September to October.

Best Time to Visit Tunisia for a Warm Holiday

The hottest areas during the summer months will be the Sahara Desert, if you plan on traveling in Summer you may want to stay in the coastal areas where you can enjoy a welcoming sea breeze and a host of fantastic activities.

Visit Hammamet, a resort area which offers a host of water sports and golf. There is also a Medina (an old town) for you to explore where you can shop at the traditional markets and soak up some of the historical architecture.

You can also relax on the beautiful sandy shores in Sousse or spend some time visiting the Great Mosque, museum or Kasbah.

Port El Kantaoui is a very popular tourist destination offering fantastic beaches, golf, camel and horse riding and there is even an amusement park, making it an ideal family holiday destination.

Djerba is an island just off the Tunisian coast where you can enjoy the choice of top beaches, explore the marina, visit the souks for some shopping and even visit a crocodile farm.

Best Time to Visit Tunisia for Cooler Weather

The Sahara stays hot in the Summer and is an ideal stop during the slightly cooler Spring and Autumn months. The Sahara has a lot to offer holiday makers. Visit the Star Wars film locations in Matmata and the unique Berber homes, a once in a lifetime opportunity stay in a troglodyte guesthouse.
