The vast expanse of the Sahara Desert made for a great location for the outskirts of Mos Espa. After landing the Imperial Starship nearby, Darth Maul successfully tracks Queen Amidala along with her servant Padme and the Jedi duo, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, to the town of Mos Espa. As the group heads into town to find parts for their J-type 327 Nubian The nearby area of Ong Jemel was the site Darth Maul released his drones.
As Qui-Gon escorts Anakin towards the Imperial Starship, they are ambushed by Darth Maul. Qui-Gon engages in a duel while Anakin heads into the ship. Obi-Wan instructs the pilot to take over and move just over the dueling pair, in time for Qui-Gon to jump on to the open ramp of the ship and leaving Darth Maul looking up alone in the desert of Tatooine.
