Mos Eisley Cantina and Streets

“You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.” – Obi-Wan Kenobi

Passing the Tosche Station, Obi-Wan and Luke are stopped by a patrol of stormtroopers looking for R2-D2 & C-3PO. Obi-Wan uses his Jedi mind tricks to tell them, “These are not the droids you’re looking for.” Continuing in Luke’s landspeeder, they approach the entrance of Chalmun’s Spaceport Cantina (aka Mos Eisley Cantina). These two scenes were filmed in a small town on the southern coast of the island of Djerba, Tunisia. As they enter the cantina, the interior scenes were shot in London and not in Tunisia.

Later, Han, Chewbacca, Luke, and Obi-Wan escape to board the Millennium Falcon. Filming returns to the streets of Ajim, Tunisia as the stormtroopers are looking for the now escaped fugatives when suddenly the Millenium Falcon zooms off into space.
