Tour itinerary

Thursday, April 29

Welcome to Tunisia! Upon your arrival at Tunis-Carthage International Airport, you’ll be greeted by a friendly member of our team who will transfer you to the picturesque coastal town of Sousse. Dinner will be served at your hotel.

Friday, April 30

This morning, you’ll embark on a journey to El Jem, a renowned Roman Coliseum, one of the most well-preserved in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Constructed between 230 AD and 238 AD, it once held an impressive capacity of 30,000 to 45,000 spectators. Spend some time exploring this vast structure, including the rooms where gladiators prepared for their epic battles. Afterwards, pay a visit to the museum in town, which houses an extensive collection of mosaics from the Roman era.

Once the group is ready, head to the island of Djerba for dinner and your overnight stay.

Saturday, May 1

Begin your Djerba island tour with morning visits to the Star Wars film locations. Your first stop will be the coastal town of Ajim, where you’ll visit the exterior of the Mos Eisley Cantina. The area where the Millennium Falcon escapes from Mos Eisley with Stormtroopers seeking Luke and Han Solo is just around the corner from the Cantina.

Proceed along the coastal road to Obi-Wan Kenobi’s house. This is where “Old Ben” resided during his exile. Set against the picturesque turquoise sea, the building was a place of worship but is now repurposed as storage for local fishermen. Continue your journey until you reach the charming location of Sidi Jamour, which served as the backdrop for Anchorhead and its Tosche Station in the deleted scenes of A New Hope. The special edition of the film reintroduced this location in a short sequence.

In the afternoon, embark on a tour of Djerba Island, visiting the renowned pottery town of Guellela, the El Ghriba Synagogue (the oldest Synagogue in North Africa), and Houmt Souk.

Dinner will be at the hotel.

Sunday, May 2

Today will be an early start with a full day of site visits and travel. Begin the day by traveling over the Roman Causeway connecting Djerba Island to the mainland of Tunisia. Your first stop will be Ksar Ommarsia (Medenine), where Young Anakin lived with Shmi (Slave Quarters Row) in Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Pass by the town of Tataouine, which served as the inspiration for the desert planet’s name in the film. Continue to Ksar Hadada, another filming location for Slave Quarters Row. A scene inside Ksar Hadada features a balcony where Shmi and Qui-Gon Jin engaged in conversation about Young Anakin while he prepared his Podracer.

Upon completion of the itinerary, proceed to Matmata for dinner and overnight accommodations.

Monday, May 3

In the morning, take time at Hotel Sidi Idriss, which served as the interior for Lars Homestead, Luke Skywalker’s residence in the 1976 film A New Hope. In 2002, the filmmakers revisited this set, which was featured once more in Attack of the Clones.

Proceed across Chott El Jerid to Star Wars Canyon, also known as Sidi Bouhlel, where nine scenes were filmed, including the attack and burial of the Jawas, Jawa Rock, and the scenes of the Tusken Raiders.

After completing the visit, proceed to Tozeur for dinner and overnight accommodations.

Tuesday, May 4 (Star Wars Day!!)

Following breakfast, enjoy a slow morning at the hotel by taking a plunge in the pool or heading into town and exploring the medina of Tozeur.

In the afternoon you will depart for Nefta for a 4×4 excursion to Ong Jemel, also known as “the neck of the camel,” where Darth Maul arrives on Tatooine and releases the Sith Probes, stalking Anakin and Qui-Gon. Darth Maul is seen flying over the cliffs.

Next, explore the Mos Espa film site, situated amidst the Sahara dunes. This site encompasses the Mos Espa streets, Watto’s shop, market, and Sebulba’s Café. East of the film set lies the Yardang Field, where the queen’s Royal Starship lands and the Jedi engage in a lightsaber duel with Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace.

Finally, you will visit the Lars Family Homestead exterior, which bears a resemblance to an igloo house constructed on the Chott el Jerid. This location was also utilized in Attack of the Clones and concludes the final scene of Revenge of the Sith.

Return to Tozeur for dinner and the evening.

Wednesday, May 5

This morning, embark on a journey to the historic city of Kairouan, famously depicted as the Cairo Market in the iconic film Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Explore the labyrinthine streets of the ancient medina, immersing yourself in the cinematic experience that reenacts Indy’s harrowing escape from assassins.

Prior to departing, savor a delightful lunch in the ancient medina. Then proceed to the picturesque coastal city of Hammamet.

Dinner and the evening will be at the hotel.

Thursday, May 6

Your driver will transfer you to the Tunis-Carthage International Airport for your departure flight, less than a 2-hour drive.
