Arrival in Tunis – Transfer to Sousse

Welcome to Tunisia! Upon arrival at Tunis/Carthage International Airport, you will be met by your designated driver and transferred to the charming coastal town of Sousse. Your evening will commence with dinner at your hotel.

Sousse – El Jem – Matmata

Today, you will depart from Sousse for El Jem to visit a Roman Coliseum, one of the most well-preserved in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then continue onto  Ksar Hadada, a location that served as the backdrop for the Slave Quarters Row in The Phantom Menace. A notable scene within Ksar Hadada features a balcony where Shmi and Qui-Gon Jinn engage in a conversation while Anakin Skywalker constructs his Podracer.

Following this visit, you will proceed to Matmata, where you will visit Hotel Sidi Idriss. This establishment was utilized as the interior for the Lars Homestead, the residence of Luke Skywalker in the 1976 film A New Hope. In 2002, the filmmakers returned to this set, which subsequently appeared in Attack of the Clones.

Dinner will be provided at your hotel.

Douz – Chott El Jerid – Sidi Bouhlel – Nefta – Ong Jemel – Tozeur

Following breakfast, you will travel across Chott El Jerid (great salt lake) and visit Sidi Bouhlel, which is also known as ‘Star Wars Canyon’ where 9 scenes were filmed including when the Jawas were attacked and buried, Jawa Rock, and the scenes of the Tusken Raiders.

After lunch, depart on a 4×4 excursion to Nefta where you will visit Ong Jemel, also known as “the neck of the camel,” where Darth Maul arrives on Tatooine and releases the Sith Probes, stalking Anakin and Qui-Gon. Darth Maul is seen flying over the cliffs.

Next, explore the Mos Espa film site, situated amidst the Sahara dunes. This site encompasses the Mos Espa streets, Watto’s shop, market, and Sebulba’s Café. East of the film set lies the Yardang Field, where the queen’s Royal Starship lands and the Jedi engage in a lightsaber duel with Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace.

Continue to the Dune Sea and hunt for remnants of the Krayt Dragon before concluding your excursion with a visit to the Lars Family Homestead exterior, which bears a resemblance to an igloo house constructed on the Chott el Jerid. This location was also utilized in Attack of the Clones and concludes the final scene of Revenge of the Sith.

Return to Tozeur for dinner and the evening.

Tozeur – Kairouan – Hammamet

This morning, embark on a journey to the historic city of Kairouan, famously depicted as the Cairo Market in the iconic film Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Explore the labyrinthine streets of the ancient medina, immersing yourself in the cinematic experience that reenacts Indy’s harrowing escape from assassins.

Prior to departing, savor a delightful lunch in the ancient medina. Afterwards, proceed to the picturesque coastal city of Hammamet.

Dinner and the evening will be at your hotel.

Your driver will transfer you to the Tunis-Carthage International Airport for your departure flight, less than a 2-hour drive.
