Lars Moisture Farm (Exterior)

Built just for the film, the igloo house is an artificial structure built in the middle of a Tunisian salt flat. Until recently, it sat out on the salt flat all by itself. Today, local vendors have set up shop next to this iconic building. Next to the building you will also see the remnants of the “garage” where Luke would have kept his landspeeder.

Due to the extreme wind, heat, and flash rains, the igloo structure regularly (and often quickly) deterioates. Thanks to the Tunisian Star Wars Fan Club based in Tunis, the capital of this North African country, restoration seems to be taken seriously; most recently in May 2022.
