The next edition of Star Wars Insider will reissue more classic short stories, sure to be fine additions to the collection. There will be 20 shorts in total, each written by popular Star Wars authors and fully illustrated.
These stories will be taken from both the canon and Legends continuities, spanning all eras of the Star Wars universe, from the Old Republic to the prequels, and beyond the original trilogy. They should prove entertaining to both canon and Legends fans, with tales of Princess Leia on a vital mercy mission, Obi-Wan Kenobi escorting precious cargo to Tatooine, a journalist uncovering something sinister about Orson Krennic, and a thrilling heist involving Hondo Ohnaka. That’s just the tip of the iceberg; other stories focus on Asajj Ventress, Darth Malgus, a senator on the run from the Empire, and a Republic trooper on the front lines.
We’re not exactly lacking for new Star Wars content nowadays, but collections like these offer a nostalgic look back at the stories of yesteryear while also reminding us of the new tales we’ve enjoyed over the last few years. It’s a pleasant reminder that good stories can be set anywhere in the Star Wars universe, with familiar characters and brand-new ones.
The authors of these stories include the likes of Timothy Zahn, John Jackson Miller, Delilah S. Dawson, Jason Fry, Michael Kogge, Alexander Freed, James S. A. Corey, Jennifer Heddle, Jason Hough, Joe Schreiber, Janine K. Spendlove, Edward M. Erdelac, Mur Lafferty, Sylvain Neuvel, and Paul S. Kemp.
The illustrations have been crafted by experienced Star Wars illustrators Magali Villeneuve, Drew Baker, John Van Fleet, Joe Corroney, Brian Miller, Carsten Bradley, Brian Rood, Marek Okon, Jose Cabrera, Jason Chan, David Rabitte, and Chris Scalfe.
